Hive NYC Opportunity Fund and Travel Fund Application

    Hive New York City Fund
The Hive New York City Fund is a collective action fund comprised of The New York Community Trust, the Altman Foundation, John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, Mozilla Foundation, and an anonymous donor. It is advised by a committee of donors, practitioners, and leaders in the local youth digital media learning field. The Fund is designed to support innovation, digital equity, and leadership among members of the Mozilla Hive NYC Learning Network, which include youth-serving nonprofits, museums, libraries, and individual educators and technologists.

    Opportunity Fund Guidelines
Mozilla Hive NYC Learning Network invites Hive NYC members to apply for a grant from its Opportunity Fund. The Opportunity Fund was created to support Hive NYC Learning Network member organizations to understand, evaluate, and articulate their work, and to apply this ability toward ongoing organizational development and capacity building. This Fund provides one-time grants of up to $3,000 to member organizations facing unanticipated needs around operational or capacity challenges or special opportunities around staff development needs, including, but not limited to:

    • Executive or leadership transition
    • Reflection and learning opportunities
    • Repair or purchase of critical digital media equipment
    • Consultant fees
    • Professional development, including registration fees, travel and accommodations to attend workshops and conferences.

    Travel Fund Guidelines
Mozilla Hive NYC Learning Network invites Hive NYC members to apply for a grant from its Travel Fund. The Travel Fund provides one-time grants of up to $3,000 to cover travel costs for staff at member organizations to share tools, learning, and best practices that emerge from Hive and Mozilla projects. The goal of this fund is to support members in pursuing opportunities to share their work and engage in peer learning experiences that may be outside of the Hive NYC network.

The Travel Fund will cover travel costs for members to:
    • Attend conferences and convenings relevant to improving practice and promoting their work. Preference will be given to members who have been accepted as presenters.
    • Host or attend peer learning exchanges with other organizations and institutions in the field.

Applications for both the Opportunity Fund and the Travel Fund will be accepted on a rolling basis until October 31, 2017 and will be reviewed at the end of every month. You will be notified about the status of your proposal within 4 weeks of your submission date.
